15 years of Responsible Care
Responsible Care programme was launched in Canada in 1985. Finland,
among the first countries, joined in 1992. Ever since, over 100
companies have joined the initiative, representing over 80 percent of
Finland´s chemical industry production and employing over 19 000 people.
The principles of Responsible Care are just as relevant in 2007 as they
were in 1992. Joining still means a commitment to continuous improvement
of operations and adopting a policy of openness and co-operation.
Actions are built on the principles – what comes out are the results.
And, we are proud of our results.
At the past the focus of Responsible Care was on discharges and emissions. These are still important aspects of programme, but focus is shifting towards products. In the near future we need to ensure sustainability of whole life cycle of our products. This will require more co-operation in the supply chain. Enhanced Product Stewardship along with new Responsible Care Management Systems Framework are our tools in responding to these future challenges. We invite you to join the celebration of the past 15 years of Responsible Care Programme. The campaign site for 15 years of Responsible Care tell the results of the Programme can be found by touching the years. The committed companies tell their own stories by browsing the pictures below the years. |
