Corporate responsibility and Responsible Care  Print page Mail this page
move to top Corporate responsibility is a phenomenon of today, also in the chemical industry. Sustainable financial performance, responsible behaviour as a corporate citizen as well as ongoing improvement in the areas of environmental protection, health and safety are the practical dimensions of responsibility.

Chemistry can have an impact on sustainable development first and foremost through its products. Chemical innovations are almost without exception the sole source of solutions that minimize environmental burden. A chemical industry company is also a good neighbour. Minimizing the harmful effects of operations is the starting point, and openness in the neighbourhood-level cooperation creates the necessary communal trust.

For 20 years the Responsible Care programme has offered an advanced and solid foundation for corporate responsibility. The companies committed to the programme practice responsibility in many different ways. A common feature to all activities is, however, that ways of operating reflect the needs and expectations of both the customers and the neighbourhood.
