move to top For chemical industry companies it is important that the everyday activities in the work place run smoothly and efficiently. This is to a great degree guided through industry-specific collective labour agreements, which guarantee sound working conditions and set the minimum conditions defining the employment. In the chemical industry there are three industry-specific collective labour agreements as well as an industry-wide salaried employee agreement. In addition there is a wages protocol signed with senior clerical workers.
The collective labour agreements involving the personnel in the chemical industry are the labour agreement for basic chemical industry, the labour agreement for plastics products industry and chemical products industry as well as the labour agreement for the oil, natural gas and petro-chemical industries. These agreements cover a total of 18,000 employees. The parties bound by these agreements are the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland and Kemianliitto ry.

The collective labour agreement regarding salaried employees in the chemical industry has been made between the Federation and the Union of Salaried Employees. The agreement covers about 11,000 employees. The signatory of the wages protocol involving the senior salaried personnel is the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN).

The Chemical Industry Federation also takes part in negotiations involving agreements covering the boat building industry, the oil and tank truck industry and the electricians working in the chemical industry. Moreover, the Federation draws some labour agreements limited to individual companies.
