The terms of employment are governed by legislation, collective labour
agreements, local agreements and terms of individual employment contracts.
The collective labour agreements in the chemical industry enable drawing
of local contracts and encourage local cooperation. The wages and
compensation systems have been updated and the chemical industry was among
the first to renew the compensation schemes for its clerical and
supervisory personnel.
Skills and competencies are needed in all
work places. Companies have to adjust to the changes in their operational
environments and improve their competitiveness. At the same time they have
to improve the quality of working life, the competence base and employee
performance. The expertise provided by the Chemical Industry Federation of
Finland is very much in demand.
