move to top Transport of dangerous goods is regulated by various international agreements, and the national legislation is based on these. Transportation by road, rail, sea and air have each their own specific regulations. In Finland the highest authority on transportation is the Ministry of Transport and Communications. In order to secure the transportation chain, the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland engages in broad voluntary cooperation with the transportation chain. Among other things the industry produces transport emergency cards kept in the vehicles and organizes training for company specialists.

The European chemical industry works proactively and voluntarily to secure the transportation chain. Guidelines are available for example on the following topics: safety and quality assesment system (SQAS), supply of expert services in accidents (ICE), transport emergency cards (Tremcards and Ericards) and rescue personnel, manuals of the best practices in the field and substance-specific safety guidance.
